The past couple of weeks I've been working more hours than usual at my job. My next check will reflect that, but unfortunately so does my level of energy. I'm taking some time off starting Thursday so I just have to make it through tomorrow and then I can nap all week if I want.
Last week I renewed my library card and picked out a big thick book. It's called The Great Hunt and is part of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

There are fourteen of these big thick books to read. The first one took me over a month last year, but I'm determined to finish this one within the standard three week library loan period.
This series was recommended to me by a friend and has been pretty interesting so far. Some people claim the pace is too slow (So. Many. Pages.), but anyone who has read through something like The Lord of the Rings should be fine.
It has all the elements of a good fantasy series: prophecies, magic, sword fighting, an unnameable evil. Questing ensues. There's a pretty big group of main characters, each with their own goals and ambitions, so you're bound to find somebody in the story you can relate to (even if you're not a farm boy mixed up in something you don't understand).
In honor of my recent literary entertainment, I drew a guinea pig swordsman. He's off to defeat evil, or maybe just bring home some really epic radicchio.
