I have been sick all this last week and a half. I am terrible at being sick because I feel guilty the whole time, like I should be doing something despite the facts that I can't breathe through my nose or stand up without getting dizzy. This has been the worst not-flu I've had in a long time, and it seems to have finally pushed me over the edge on something: I gave notice at my job.
I can put up with quite a bit of annoyance and irritation. I can deal with being tired and sore and getting up at five in the morning. But I cannot deal with these things forever. I really want to find another job before I leave this one, but even if I'm unemployed for a while it's best to leave now before the insanity of the holiday season starts up. I really need to get away from the place where I'm treated like unskilled garbage for $12 an hour. It's not worth it anymore.

I'm hoping to try to get a job with the local school district. I've missed having weekends off. I've heard some of their IT people are going to retire soon, which could be a good opportunity for someone like me. I also have a bit of money saved up, so I could take some college classes or other training if I need to (or just want to).
Being at home on the couch prevented me from doing much, but I did have a chance to catch up on a lot of TV and read a couple of books. Right now I'm reading The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. It's the second book in a series about a group of friends researching paranormal occurrences. Psychics and ghosts and magic aren't usually my kind of thing, but I really enjoyed the first book and so far the second is going pretty well also.

If only I could get paid to stay at home and read good books... Have a day!
